Question by Ice_Queen: Question for the Music Business savvy musician?
The scenario pertains to writing lyrics and composition. So if a music writer and lyricist creates a composition and gets a copyright of his or her own work and decides to publish his or her composition(s), and eventually in the process, a music producer decides to buy the rights to the composition and has a recording of your composition done by a famous artist – what happens if the composition you wrote turns into a big hit? Doesn’t the original composer receive some kind of commission or compensation for the song(s) he or she wrote per album being sold? How does it really work?
