Q&A: X Factor/ American Idol Scandal – Cheryl Cole?
Question by : X Factor/ American Idol Scandal – Cheryl Cole?
To all Americanos: Do you know who Cheryl Cole is? You know, Simon Cowells lap-cat?
Well if she’s not then she soon will be, in Europe she’s the (THE) woman of the moment.
Everyone loves her, EVERYONE! Cheryl Cole is in the girl group Girls Aloud and she (is/was) a judge on The X Factor (she’s been on the judging panel with a few years now, and since she joined EVERYONE’S been enchanted by her).
I don’t personally love her like everyone else, I’d rather do Angelina Jolie any day. I suppose its Cheryl’s really high cheekbones that put me off. Or maybe her accent.
So IS SHE HOT OR NOT in America? She will be soon anyway, with the new American series of The X Factor being launched and she’s going to be a judge. Shes in America now, just so you know.
One last thing- I URGE you not to watch those singing contests on T.V. like Idol and X Factor. Not because I just don’t like them, but because of how seedy and corrupt they are. The contestants get treated like sh!.t on the shows and even if you win or lose, you get tied down with contracts.
For example, very non-winning contestant is held under Simon Cowell’s management for 3 MONTHS after. This means that all those job offers Jedward got for Disney and the BBC were pointless because Simon Cowell wouldn’t let them take the jobs. Remember Lucy Jones? She had the same problem: she was offered a Hollywood film role but wasn’t allowed by Cowell to take the job.
Another thing is that if a contestant ever leaves the show (before they get booted off), then they legally have to pay Cowell a percent of their wages for the next God knows how many years.
Simon Cowell is already worth 175.2 million, yet he want’s to make average working class people give their precious earnings to make him even richer.
It makes me sick how he’s legally allowed to do this. The contestants have no idea what their getting themselves into, and their not even allowed to TALK about what goes on behind the scenes on the show. Not allowed to mention contracts or treatment or the truth or anything.
One of the big warning signs came recently when a contestants X Factor contract was leaked to the Sun newpaper. On the contract there were HUNDREDS of clauses, one of them being that contestants wern’t allowed to say anything bad about Cowell. Is that rediculous or what? He’s doing all he can to make himself seem like an angel.
People who watch the shows are clueless, but it’s not their fault. So much effort is put into covering up the truth, how could anyone know?
Formore information just Google “x factor contract” or “x factor controversy”. A good place to start would be on Wikipedia, go to The X Factor (Series) page and go down to the Controversy/criticism section.
The shows have also destoryed the music industry.
@ Laci:
People cought in unfair contracts can NOT make their own decisions, unfortinately. I understand where you’re coming from, though.
@ Jobbie:
I agree with the talent shows, they’re a disgrace.
And sorry for presuming Cole (I think she’s going back to Tweedy as her personal and stage name now) was the woman of the moment in the UK.
In Ireland she is and I thought that since shes from U.K and works there that she’d be even more populat there.
@ Chocolate Smurf:
Eeerrrmmm, I’m not a fan of hers but even I have to admit, thats not the best image of her!
Everything I said above: I didn’t make it up, I got curious as to how none of the contestants had careers after the season ended (even the winners all fade away-it’s the contracts). So I started reading and researching until BAM I found all of this information.
And it’s not just on The X Factor, on American Idol (and all the Idol franchise) is just as corrupt.
Idol is fading fast. X Factor was created for the purpose of replacing Idol on ITV in the UK. And that was in 2003-4. The only reason Idol wasn’t replaced sooner in America is because of a contract Sinom Cowell himself was under with Simon FULLER (creator of the Idol franchise). That contract meant that as long as Cowell was a judge on American Idol, he would not be legally allowed to have an American X Factor. Now that Cowell’s leaving American Idol, he’s first objective is to replace American Idol-contd¬
It should be interesting to see how X Factor Vs. Idol plays out. I understand Idol has a massive fan base in the U.S.
I think that after some time, X Factors ratings will steadily grow, and Idols will dwindle, for the following reasons:
Cowell cleverly stayed on as an American Idol judge, so that he could grow some viewer loyalty.
X factor has some differences with Idol. They being that X Factor allows groups to compete together (though groups will never win, it’s a business thing), X Factor stages on screen arguements/accidents for entertainment reasons. X Factor purposefully places wacky/scandelous acts as contestants in order to create excitement (Jedward), X Factor is aired on the build up to Christmas so that it can benefit from the Christmas ‘spirit’ and people will watch the show for seasonal entertainment. Also, The X Factor winners debut single is released just in time to enter the running for the Christmas no. 1. It allways succeeds-contd¬
It always succedes except for last years phenomenal ‘Anti-X Factor’ campaign online.
In all I think X Factor will be the bane of Idol around the world. Though I may be proven wrong.
I also hope that one day soon these shows will be exposed for what they really are: Corrupt, unfair, fixed, cruel and absolutely money driven.
