In short. Talent, accessibility, and motivation. Some things can’t be taught. If you have an ear to produce, then you might be able to make a career in that. If you have the ability to make music and write lyrics and rap to your music, that’s great. But really it is such a competitive industry with so many people trying to make it, it really takes a motivated individual with talent to make it anywhere far. To just be able to sit at home and make songs that you’re happy with? It takes as long as it takes for you to write a song. Myspace is a great tool for online presence.
