On November 14th, a video appeared on YouTube where ?uestlove indicated that the band would be “retiring.” The band has signed a contract to work as the house band for Late Night starting in March 2009 once Jimmy Fallon assumes hosting duties.[3]
Though this is partly true; the video has since been pulled from the internet, awaiting an official announcement. “Retired” isn’t completely accurate because the band will continue to make CD’s. The touring will cease in order to become the house band on the Late Show.
Various music news sources are reporting that the addition of The Roots could greatly improve the chances of success for Late Night in the Jimmy Fallon era.
I think it sucks personally, I mean it will be cool to see em almost every night on TV but Ive never seen them live and now it seems like that is gonna be hard to do. Bummer =(
