Q&A: What do i do with a degree in Music Performance?

Question by Jeff J: What do i do with a degree in Music Performance?
I am currently majoring in Music Education at the University of North Texas but i am considering changing schools and majors. Schools because UNT really only does classical and jazz for music performance. And im changing majors because i want to sing and write my own songs. But what do i do with that degree? What happens to the people that don’t get the million dollar recording contracts?? What happens if 6 months after graduation im on the street, broke, with no job and 1000’s of dollars in debt??? HELP!!!!!

the only point in taking music performance is if your going to be the best of the best of the best, who competes in competitions winning $ 40,000 and touring around the world.

otherwise you could teach people ??

or study composition but there isnt alot to do with music
