Hi there. We like your tunes a lot. We’d like to offer you a deal.
Please read through single deal + UK tour and get back to us.
DEAL INCLUDES:
1: Studio time.
2: Artwork. We can supply or work with you on this.
3: Mastering of tracks.
4: Single will be put onto all major download sites
(I-tunes, Amazon, Napster, etc) + CD single.
5: 7 UK dates including a London date. Band keep any fees from UK tour.
You will need to sort you own transport + accom. Dates will be over
3 weekends as weekend dates are better attended. You will never headline
as we want you to play to new audiences. Tour would be June/July 2010.
Date locations cant be confirmed until we have sent out promo e-mails.
6: All single profits will be a 50/50 split between label + band.
7: We (the label) keep door takings from single launch.
8. Due to massive drop in single sales an admin fee of 399 pounds is payable.
This goes towards our general costs.
However if you have tracks already recorded we can reduce this amount.
Please note that we do not use contracts at Metropolis Records.
This enables you to move upwards to bigger labels/ management companies, etc
with no ties. In addition to this we will sign over any recordings + artwork we pay
for so you own them too.
WE OWN NOTHING. YOU OWN ALL YOUR WORK AND RETAIN ALL COPYRIGHTS.
We only have 2 spaces on label so please let us know ASAP.
Feel free to call.
Or send us your mobile number and we’ll call you.

That sounds like a SCAM. Avoid it.
Record companies advance the performers the money to make the albums, and recoup the money in royalties. I’ve NEVER heard of anyone who had to PAY to sign a deal.
My guess: it’s a fraud. I’d certainly have an attorney look at it and check into the label.
