I guess I don’t understand what you mean. Do you mean that in 1941 the first digital computer was designed? Even so, digital technology wasn’t used in a meaningful way in regards to recording for many years after that.

Before digital recording, there was analog recording…. reel to reel. Before reel to reel, you had what wikipedia calls the “gramophone”. Link below.
