Q&A: I’m currently looking for a job, but have been unsuccessful in finding one any suggestions?

Question by wilycat29: I’m currently looking for a job, but have been unsuccessful in finding one any suggestions?
I’m looking for an Executive/Assistant/HR Assistant position in the northern Atlanta, Ga area for over two months mainly on the internet and staffing organizations. I’ve worked for the same company for 18 years and I think this is a deterrent because all of my business network contacts are with the same company (Target). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to follow-up on jobs you’ve applied for on the internet if they don’t give you any contact information or even respond back to your e-mail inquires? I’ve been doing HR Assistant work for the past 5 years and I have a BS in the Music Industry.

It once took six months for me to find a job, and then I had four job offers (three jobs that I liked) within a matter of weeks. so don’t get discouraged.

Although the Internet can be a source of leads, Few people I know have not gotten a job thru the internet. Instead social and business networks was the source of jobs. Most jobs were the result friends and family providing a lead and following up in person.

Let people know that your looking, but make sure it does not get back to your place of business.

How would you know if you wanted to work for a company, if you can not research the company?

If a company does not provide enough contract information or at least a website, I would avoid them. Personal contact works best, I would be wary of any internet job offer than does not include the name/address/phone number of the company.
