Question by Mr. L: How do you set up an itunes artist account and sell your music and ringtones?
I saw a poster yesterday from Wiz Khalifa and it said “Buy Wiz Khalifa Music”. Then it a Ipod on their playing his music and right next to it was his “Youngin On His Grind” single. Then it had a picture of an iPhone playing his music. Then it said ” Text “WIZ” to 99499 for Wiz Khalifa ringtones straight to your phone! Then it had the logos of the phone companies that except the ringtones like at&t, verizon, t-mobile, boost mobile and sprint. I want to set up my music like that but I’m having a hard time finding out how to do it. Do I need to be a major artist to get those type of things. Here’s the link to the poster I was talking about.

It’s really difficult to get on itunes if you’re an independent artist. iTunes/Apple doesn’t have the time to deal with individual sellers, they’re busy dealing with the big boys. Furthermore, you need to go through a distributor in order to even be considered.
We just launched a site on Oct 15 that allows independent artist like yourself to sell digital content (i.e. music, videos, images…- ringtones are coming soon). Our goal is to transform the way digital content is bought and sold.
