Q&A: How did Taylor Swift get her song writing contract with Sony?

Question by Walk By Faith: How did Taylor Swift get her song writing contract with Sony?
I absolutely LOVE writing. I have a few songs that I’m sure would be on the radio if they were produced correctly. I don’t want to be a singer or anything, I can’t sing AT ALL. I just want to write songs and get stories published and such.
I’ve heard Taylor Swift say that she got a contract at 14 with Sony to write music. Does anyone know HOW she got the contract? I live in Michigan so there’s not any song writing companies here or anything to get published. I know the chances are slim and I don’t need to here it.
I just really want to know how you go about getting a contract?
Thanks! 🙂

[If you just look on google for song writing competions. it’ll have a few]
As for Taylor, she went into SONY entertainment sat down and said “Hi My Name is Taylor” she performed for them. They didn’t want her they wanted her music. But be aware. None of Taylors songs that she wrote was published to ANYONE. She quickly learned that the songs she wrote was more meaningful to her than it could be to anyone else singing them. So she dropped the contract. Good Luck!
