We are a music company. We have been driving mopeds (motorized bikes that don’t go past 35 mph so are not considered motorcycles in our area) and putting flyers under the flags on people’s mailboxes. Now 2 of our employees were working one day when they were approached by 2 police men. They said that someone in the neighborhood had called about them putting the flyers on mailboxes. We do not talk to any one, we don’t go up and knock on people’s doors, and we do not put any flyers into the mailboxes, just under the flags. The cops said that our employees were not doing anything illegal technically, but that they needed a solicitors or peddlers license to continue. Is this true?

This would fall under the local ordinances in your area. It is likely the police know what they are talking about.

Best bet is to call city hall or the county and ask.
