Q&A: Can a white guy like me take my demo CD to music publishers in Japan?
Question by Robert M: Can a white guy like me take my demo CD to music publishers in Japan?
I have always had an interest in living in Japan and I was wondering if Japanese music publishing companies would even see past the fact that I’m not Japanese and listen my my demo CD? I have been told numerous times my music sounds like it should be in videogames(which are a huge part of Japanese subculture) so I figure maybe my music could be used in a Japanese videogame?

Thank you for all your helpful answers. I’m relieved I got no smartass responses haha.

Well, the band “the stereo future” was an english band that signed by Delicious Label in Japan. So I guess it’s possible. Though they didn’t get popular, their music was decent.
Delicious Label is owned by Sawao Yamanaka of the pillows.
