Ottmar Liebert Surrender To Love (Nouveau Flamenco)
The year was 1990. I remember I had just bought my very first Compact Disc (CD) player. Before going home to set up the unit, I stopped by the nearest record store to buy my very first CD. And the CD was, Nouveau Flamenco by Ottmar Liebert. And of course, the rest was history!! This CD holds special memories from the beautiful years of the early 90’s. Ottmar was born in Cologne, Germany to a Chinese- German father, and a Hungarian mother. He migrated to the United States and settled in the quiet Santa Fe, New Mexico. There, he played in Hotels and Restaurants until a small time New Age record label by the name of Higher Octave Music offered him a recording contract. Nouveau Flamanco (New Flamenco), Ottmar Liebert’s debut album, was a tremendous success upon its release in 1990. It went Platinum, and paved the way for Liebert’s popularity in both the New Age and mainstream markets. His music, almost overnight, dominated the radio waves, having every new listener asking the question, “Who is that?!!” Surrender To Love, is a beautiful track with an appropriate title, from Nouveau Flemenco.
