music business question?
Question by cheer92: music business question?
well, i love music. and as a career i’m thinking about working in the music business. not performing. i can play the guitar, but i probably wouldn’t make it doing that…
what would be a job like working behind the scenes, like for a record company?
just wondering what some jobs would be like that and what kind of classes i would have to take in college? should i go to a university’s music program?
i just want to do something with music but not sure what..
by the way, i don’t know a whole lot about this because this is kind of my back up plan. i’m still not positive on what i want to do.
thank you!!

Can you cut and paste this into the searchbar
music business degree united states
and then there are plenty of articles you can read and things you could look into doing.
Okay, I work in the music industry (Australia) and its not a job you can just walk into. Most people in this industry will not be hired under the age of thirty unless they have something spectacular in their resume. And I mean spectacular.
I would suggest you do a BUSINESS DEGREE at normal college (Its the same thing) or you could do a MUSIC BUSINESS DEGREE which will of course have a bit more in it and be a bit more about what happens in music but heres the drawback… IF you have a standard business degree and the music thing doesnt pan out, you can go and work for anybody in any business anywhere and the normal business degree will suffice for working in our industry (Its the one I have) BUT if you get a MUSIC BUSINESS DEGREE and you cant get work in the music industry, theyre not going to hire you to work at the bank with it (its the same but they wont see that)
There are many other things that you can do in the music industry rather than working for a record company AND a lot more interesting ones.
