Making my own music label?
Published November 7, 2010
Question by Escapist7: Making my own music label?
My band that I write music for is talking to a somewhat big local music label to work with in the future. The guy running it would have us sign a contract saying they would have the rights to our songs, so we would pretty much be working for him. Is it possible to create my own label, and have it affiliated with his? So if anything were to ever happen my label would have the 1st rights to our songs?

Don’t sign rights of your music over to a music label.
