Hi there – so the good news is that there are tons of jobs out there for someone like you. But I do have some advice:
#1) Don’t get too narrowly focused on just music production in college, make sure to broaden out and take some classes on video and music composition, and other things that are related to production. The worst thing you can do in college is focus too narrowly.
#2) Absolutely try to minor or double major in business or finance. I know it sounds yucky, but one of the biggest challenges with creative people is that they don’t know how to get their music into the industry. The ones who understand business – they are light-years ahead of their peers. So really put a 2nd focus on this, I don’t mean taking 1 class or 2, I mean like taking 8 classes and getting a minor. It will really get you ahead of everyone else.
Hope this helps.
