I had this Idea with my friends to sell a CD of some of our music and give the money we earn to a charity. The problem is, we cover music and I’m only a little familiar with music copyright laws…

In order to legally cover copyright music, you will need to ask for permission from the copyright holder. Otherwise, you will be infringing on copyright.
