I don’t know first hand about TAXI but I did some research and they SEEM legit (don’t know about their success rate though). You could check them out with the Better Business Bureau http://www.bbb.com and see if any complaints have been registered. Also I found this most helpful http://www.musesmuse.com/int-taxi.html

Have you made the rounds of open mic night at the local clubs? There have been a lot of talent discovered this way.

FWIW: If you have a demo tape or sheet music and can’t afford an attorney to protect your intellectual property make a copy of your material, date it and send it registered certifified return receipt requested mail to yourself. Don’t open the package and put it in a safe place. This way if a legal dispute of “who wrote what when” arises you will have this to fall back on. There have been many flyby night companies steal songs, ideas, inventions, etc and claim them as their own. It would be in your best interest to do this then as soon as you can afford an attorney get one to protect your interests.

Some things to be aware of when doing business with any internet selling site:

1. Check if contact information is current and working. Do they offer phone support and is there a verifible brick and mortar address (not someone’s basement).

2. If they are offering a service in which you must pay a fee up front, have them email you a copy of EULA or contract that can be print stating exactly what the service is and what benefits you can expect. Make sure you are not signing away your rights to future profits. Read the fine print before you sign or send anything.

3. You can check to see who the website is registered to and make sure who you are really dealing with. http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp will provide the answer if the site is not registered through a proxy.

4. Find out what other customers have to say.

Good luck
