is a degree in music business mgmt a waste?

Question by hi: is a degree in music business mgmt a waste?
I love country music more than anything else in the world, and I want a career in it.
Not singing or playing an instrument, but a more behind-the-scenes type thing, like being a producer or manager.

I live in the midwest, but I’m seriously considering packing up everything and moving to nashville, tn, so I can study music business management at a school there.

Would it be worth the loan (upwards of 65000) to take the gamble on a degree in music business management?

Wow, that’s a chunk of change. I’m assuming you are looking at Belmont, which is an excellent university. If it was me, I would search for every scholarship and grant opportunity I could find to help with the costs. I would spend my first two years of college at community college near my home because the first two years are pretty much the same regardless of where you take them. The tuition is less than at a 4-year university, you can live at home, and you can get a part-time job. I might even spend a year working full-time to save up before enrolling. I would not want to graduate with that much debt because there is no guarantee that you will find a job immediately.

Best of luck with your decision.
