Sinclair Broadcast Group and two cable TV companies announced an agreement late Friday to extend a midnight deadline for a new contract until Jan. 14, averting for now an interruption of some programming to millions of cable customers.

Caldwell police and housing authorities gang up on abuse of rent subsidies
In recent years, a low-income housing program in Southwest Idaho proved a major source of frustration to Caldwell police, who said rent-subsidized properties were frequently overrun by gang members and drug operations. So police, local officials and the housing agency are working together to ease the problems.
