Most people misunderstand exactly what a music producer is and does. They confuse it with a ‘beat maker’ – contrary to popular belief, these two are completely different. Check this article: http://www.audioneeds.com/forums/content.php?16-The-Music-Producer-A-Dying-Breed
Hope it helps.
