Question by n0k0ut: I’m getting married March, 2011, and I met a band that I really want to book.?
However, the band’s contract stipulates that the deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. After a few negotiations with the band’s leader, they are unwilling to budge on the non-refundable part of the contract. Is this customary? Should I be wary of booking the band?

I wouldn’t be worried about it. Alot of my deposits are non-refundable. Depending on how fast the band books up, though, I’d wait until either a year before, or until you have your church and reception hall booked. If you do decide to book them now, make sure that if you have to you can change your event date with the band. If you can’t change the date, wait til you have the church and reception hall booked. For example, you don’t want to book the band for March 14, 2011 and then find out that the church or your first choice hall is only available on the 21st (especially if you can’t change the date with the band.)
