I’m a singer who can’t play an instrument – but I need help from a musician. Where can I find one?

Question by Kanna: I’m a singer who can’t play an instrument – but I need help from a musician. Where can I find one?
I’ve been singing since I was little. I’m very proficient at writing lyrics, as well; but here’s the catch.

I can’t write intros. Or instrumentals. Or anything that requires a musical instrument.

I was thinking that maybe I could work with a pianist, or maybe someone who plays an acoustic guitar. (I write mostly ballads and soft rock, since my voice isn’t suited for heavy rock songs.) I know that some singers don’t play an instrument, but I don’t know how to do anything without it (because a Capella just doesn’t sound right). Plus, I would feel terribly alone if I didn’t have a partner, because I’m terribly shy.

If I can’t find a partner, is there software that can help me out with that? I would really like to sing a song I’ve written for next year’s talent show (because I could get a record contract if I win). Please help!

There are lots of ways to find a musician for yourself. You can go online (craigslist etc) and post a wanted ad or you could go down to the local music store or community center and post a wanted ad there. That way you get to write exactly what you want out of this partner and even try them out if you get multiple responses. I would like up ways to start bands as well, that could definitely get you going in the right direction. Good luck
