I’m a rap group manager in Atlanta and I’ve got a problem on my hands. How can I get this to the right people?
Question by Courtney C: I’m a rap group manager in Atlanta and I’ve got a problem on my hands. How can I get this to the right people?
I’m new to the artist management business and I manage a rap group based out of Atlanta and they’re music is basically exactly what the masses need to hear. It’s real, in your face street hip-hop. If you can imagine the first OutKast LP’s, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik and ATLiens or anything that’s out of the first-generation Dungeon Family era, that’s how they’re music sounds. Like something that came out of that camp. I feel passionate about the group and I know that they’re doing the right thing because from the few shows/performances we’ve done here in Atlanta, the feedback from our slowly growing fan base has been great! But here lies the problem, on a large scale they’re music doesn’t carry over because noticeably missing from they’re lyrics is the “bling-rap, swag talk” and dance party feel that’s cluttering the market and radio today. Like I mentioned, its on some hip-hop. Just great LYRICS and stories that we can all relate to. It’s like no one even wants to give the music

The question is: As a new manager in the business with some valuable talent on hand, how can I make the necessary impact on market when hip-hop has been deteriorated by “swag, snap, and bling rap?”
