Question by Luke C: If the album is not commercially available, would it be acceptable to use a free internet download?
If there is an album you’re looking for that is no long sold in stores (locally or online), what would the legal implications be of downloading it on a free music distribution site?
This includes things that have been released in the far past that are now very rare and things that have never been sold by the copyright holder (such as game soundtracks).

Morally not a problem.
Legally a problem. The music industry is very keen to stop anyone getting any music that they dont pay for.
