Question by coffeedude: If I were to send a demo to a local record label.. ?
and if they happened to like my demo, what would happen from there?? I’m a solo musician who records his own stuff, so would they be able to work with that or would I need to have an established band?
To be specific, I’m in college right now, and have another 2 years to go. What exactly is it a record label would do with me?
Do they fund you by contract to do a professional recording, or do you fund yourself and they promote it?
Also, how much time would they want out of me, would I have to drop out of school (if such is the case I am definitely not sending a demo in yet), or could they do what they need to do with me during the summer?
Of course I know every record label has their preferences, but I’m looking for what most record labels generally look for in partnering with musicians.
Thanks!

In general, all record labels have only one thing in mind for their talents, PROFIT…they would do anything for a musician just to keep their pockets heavy…that’s the truth…
