I want to go to college for something with music production…? HELP.?
Question by IHeartDropDead;D: I want to go to college for something with music production…? HELP.?
I’m 14, and I KNOW that when I get older I want my career to be somehow revolving around music.
At first, I started off with the idea of being a music journalist. I’m a great writer (I place 98 percentile in my state for Writing aptitude..), so I thought that would be a career path.
But, before I set myself on one goal (being music journalism) I want to see what other options there could be for me.
I plan on attending a 4 year college to do this.
What are some positions I could obtain, if I got the right schooling?
I’m NOT talking about being a musician.
I’m talking about:
Tour Managers for a band,
Press Managers for band,
People that find and sign the bands with a record company.
Press managment for a music magazine.
Other careers that have the same feel…
I don’t know much about the industry, but I hope to…and all the diffrent jobs available kind of confuse me. I’d hope to work for a Record Company I personally support that produces QUALITY MUSIC like Fearless Records, Epitaph, or Atticus. Music magazines that promote bands I like an listen to, like: AP (Alternitive Press), Rocksound, or Substream.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks 🙂

Journalism is dying. Music Journalism is almost dead already.
If you want to do something in music, consider University of Hartford’s degree in Audio Engineering Technology.
