Question by mhayes88: I am a folk musician looking to play music for a living – how can I find someone to seriously manage me?
I play dark acoustic music – kind of a cross between Cat Power and some of the Grateful Dead’s slower, prettier stuff.
I’ve been playing out in Chicago and NYC for a while (a few years) in bands and whatnot, have music recorded and sent to labels, (no responses), and have contacted various booking agencies, etc. – all to no avail.
My music is very competent and original, and all I want to do in this world is play music. I am not looking to get rich or famous, I just want to play out and travel. That’s it.
I need someone to do the business end, however I have zero clue where to start. Can someone please help point me in the right direction? Please? I promise that this music is worth it.
