How to musicians get signed onto record labels?
Question by Choo: How to musicians get signed onto record labels?
I love making music and singing, and I wanted to go professional, but what I don’t get it how (for example) Aly & AJ got signed on to Hollywood Record?
I know that Flyleaf performed live for a record label, and they got signed, but is there another way?
Please explain!

Companies Don’t Sign Artist who cannot almost run the show on their Own.
1. Artist must be competent in making sure they can produce quality music easily and efficiently. No Company wants to sign an artist that doesn’t have everything together and ends up becoming unsellable.
2. Artist Must develop a good fan base in order to show the companies that they have a market and only need a little more light to shine.
Look at Noah and the Whales and how Five Years Time blew them around the world. One Hit can do that for you.
3. Buzz!!! In order to get a market or fan base one has to generate buzz or get their name out there. Get people excited. The producers and others will find you this way.
It’s the same as when scouts find talent in High School Football. The Stats make them known.
4. Buy supplies and build a small team to go out and find events to play for, open mics, talent shows, etc. Sell CD’S, pass out fliers, Do autographs, act confident (while staying humble)
Never Quit your day job because even if you are good, I know many artist that will destroy the artist on the hip hop scene and they can’t catch money for the bus.
Starving artist can never really explode off the scene because they eat up their music money with personal finances. Keep your music money in your music. Period.
