How do you become a professional Music Producer?
Question by Kevin: How do you become a professional Music Producer?
What is the process of becoming a established Music Producer in the industry? Not just in your basement selling beats and making songs for local artists. How did those big time producers get to where they are? Do you have to intern as an Audio Engineer/sound tech and build your way up?

there is no right or wrong way to do it, you just do it. if you want to be a producer, produce music. the big time producers got where they are because they produced good music and built a name for themselves. for most it means just making music with other artists and working your way up the ladder working with more and more established artists. lil jon was an intern at a studio for a few years before he got his carer.
the best advice is to just do it. there are no shortcuts. produce good music and your career will grow. you can be an intern at a studio and still be a shitty producer. you can be Dr. Dre’s best friend but that doesn’t mean you make good beats. you work will speak for itself, just get some gear and start making music. find other people in your area to work with, and make paper.
timbaland didn’t just wake up one morning and start producing hit records. it takes years of practice. you might make one hot track and fly to the top or it may take you 30 years to get one hit record. statistically speaking, you wont ever make it, so if you really want to be a producer, start producing records.
