How do Glee get the rights to cover so many songs?
by Tattoo_Lover
Question by Wild Society: How do Glee get the rights to cover so many songs?
I’m sure the artists that wrote the songs can reject it being used on the show (apparently RHCP have done this)
Why has the likes of Sting, queen & other respectable bands let their songs be used? (Sting seems to be very anti-music brainwashing, such as shows like X-factor)
Or do the record companies & the contracts have a strong say in it

They pay to use the music to BMI or ASCAP (or another distributor/union) They will continue to pay for the music during reruns.
Many artists are happy to have their music on the show because it’s positive publicity for them, and it will boost their income.
