How can someone get their lyrics/poems set to music and be published?
Question by blue_skies243: How can someone get their lyrics/poems set to music and be published?
There are many music companies that will do this for a lot of money. But, I’ve been told by a newspaper editor that by doing it this way, the lyrics cannot be verified as being written by the writer. Therefore, the local newspaper won’t publish an article about the writer. This editor also told me that the writer should not pay to have this done. The writer and the music company would get paid when the cd is sold. It has been my personal experience recently to pay for this service, and the result was very unsatisfactory. So, how can this be done for the writer to not pay to have their lyrics put to music?

I don’t really know much about publishing, but someone did tell me a cheap way to copyright your stuff – simply mail them to yourself and the postage will cover it.
Sorry that I couldn’t help with your main topic though! Good question! I’d like to know that myself.
