how can i renegotiate my hair modeling contract?
Question by megaman101: how can i renegotiate my hair modeling contract?
i’m a musician by trade, but i’ve been doing part time hair modeling for 50 dollars per shoot, but this is grossly underpaid given the amount of time i need to dedicate to a given shoot.
while i do get a free style and color with every shoot, i need to put in at least 5-7 hours per job, which is a bit much for only 50 dollars, but i do not know how to talk to to renegotiate. everyone just sends me to someone else, and i dont even know what a good price is to ask for. anyone been in this situation who knows how these things work?
edit: i dont really have a boss, but there is a model consultant. i do have one leverage point, and thats that i’m their only asian model, and i’m always available, they need me for certain hairshoots and styles. the vidal sassoon modeling thing is kind of weirdly set up, but i don’t have a contract exactly, so i guess i’m asking for someone with specific vidal sassoon experience.

you need to tell your boss this. and if you can’t get a better pay, look for another job. managements are usually reluctant when it comes to renegotiating contracts unless the renegotiator is like the #1 model/asset in the agency or whatever
