Does backing bands and dancers sign contracts with the artist?

Question by bigboy105us: Does backing bands and dancers sign contracts with the artist?
For example… Bette Midler is playing in Vegas and I know she signed a contract with Caesars Palace. Did her band and dancers and others in her crew do the same thing or can backing band members and dancers go whenever they want to? How does it work in the business?

i think bette midler is under a production. and all the band, dancers and crews are under it.

the production will deal and sign a contract with a venue.

the earnings of the production will now be divided to its members: main artist, band, crews, depending on the level of function of each.
