Do you think major label contracts isn’t all that and it’s better to be indie?
Question by yair: Do you think major label contracts isn’t all that and it’s better to be indie?
a lot of bands miss out on a lot of money they could be making in cd sales because their signed to a major record label and considering how many people aren’t buying cd’s due to piracy it’s even harder…….death cab cutie (something like that) is pretty famous and their indie
all labels do is you give you money which is basically a loan you pay back thorugh cd sales and other sources
but some indie label bands are famous
if they don’t get the money through cd sales they will get it through something else
unde they do
MISS OUT on A LOT
artists usually make nothing from cd sales!!!!
they will lose out on millions of dollars
i read an article that said that
death cab cutie is an indie band according to the internet
http://blog.ambisonia.com/2007/10/20/radiohead-makes-6-10-million-from-the-pay-what-you-want-model/
look at that!!!
radiohead earnings would of been 6 MILLION DOLLARS without a record label

You get more exposure when signed, but your right, bands do make more money when they could go indie. Also, the have more creative control without a major label.
