i was just wondering because i was watching this show about this guy who went to a recording studio to make a demo. it got me thinking: if you can get into a recording studio, can you make your own albums without a producer and a label and stuff like that? and if the answer to that was yes, how would you distribute to places like Target or Walmart or something? Maybe if you have enough money, you can get in a studio…but how much would that cost??? questions, questions.

no. loads of people have become famous via myspace recently, like Lily Allen for example. i think that you should have your songs recorded professionally though so they are better quality and more likely to attract a bigger fanbase.
it is possible to do what you suggested but you couldnt do it alone, maybe hire a guy that would sort out the distribution for you. lots of bands have their own record labels in which they have done similar things because the larger ones are a bit of a mess.
