DJ Services and Music Licensing / Copyright?
by Jamtopia
Question by Kirk W: DJ Services and Music Licensing / Copyright?
I am planning on starting a DJ business and I need to know what I have to do as far as licensing of the music I play is concerned. I know that organizations such as ASCAP and BMI are involved in licensing, but I can’t find out what kinds of licensing I need and how much it will cost me. I heard somewhere else that getting proper licensing for the music is the responsibility of the banquet hall. Can anyone verify or deny this and tell me everything I need to know so that I can do this business the “right” way and not infringe on any copyrights?
