Design Contract – Client don’t pay?

Question by Benjamin: Design Contract – Client don’t pay?
I am a freelance designer. I have just signed a design contract with a national storage service company for graphic design, e-mail marketing and flash creation. The project total is $ 840.
My contract states that payments happens in 3 stages. The first when the contract is signed, the 2nd when the proofs are excepted, the last and 3rd when all is done.

The client notified my on the 16th of January that my proposal was excepted, the contract was signed and mailed to me and they notified me on that same day the my check was posted.

I am in San Diego, so are they. It has now been 12 working days and I have not received my deposited. I have on Friday 22nd mailed them again, and they said they would look into where my check was. I have heard nothing back from them.
I have completed an entire news letter template design. They proofed it. I am still waiting for my deposit. The contract states work starts after deposited is received.

What should I do ? Give more time to them ? Buck them?

Ask for the A/R invoicing info to prove they sent the check.
