COPY RIGHT & MUSIC SHARING !?

Question by Sarah: COPY RIGHT & MUSIC SHARING !?
hello
if you make a website and let people download free music but you don’t host music files and just link to other sites content and in disclaimer you clarify that people who don’t have the original cd should download music. and in joining page people accept this agreement before joining… ! is this website still denying copyright ?

thats a good question. a person making a website and using content that isnt their own could constitute a copy-right violation. they are still providing content, regardless where its hosted. Musicians have very good copyright laws to protect them, in fact you no longer have to register for a copyright for a original piece of music that you wrote. Although its better to register so you have proof when it was made and if there are other things like, placing it on an album or using it in an ad, you still own the copyright of your music regardless. Just think.. did you produced or write the music? if not than why do you have a right to post it somewhere and share it with others. There is some grey-area but, most musicians win these cases than the file-sharer. I would suggest that you read this from the Copyright Office. they offer a little more legal insight on this.
