Contract with questionable wording?

Question by Desert_Rose: Contract with questionable wording?
the begining states:
(Company name) hereinafter referred to as “Manager”, and the band comprised of (individual names of each band member) professionally known collectively, as (band name) and the individuals comprised thereof, referred to as “Artist”.
The body of the contract then only makes reference to “manager” and “artist”….I would assume then that each individual is obligated to meet the terms of the contract despite if they are part of the band any more or if the band name changes.
but then, after each individual band member signs, this is stated:
Individually, collectively and
Professionally known as “(band name)”
….
so, if a band member were to leave the band, would they still be bound by the terms? what if the band changes its name or breaks up?
** no, the contract does not give the band any means to change or exit the contract. yes, they were stupid in signing it. but would they stand a chance on getting out of it based on what I told you?

The contract defines manager and artist for convenience and shorthand for the rest of the contract. It was probably originally drafted by an attorney and would hold up to scrutiny.
