Can I start a Phone Contract in another state, but use my home area code?
Question by KJ17: Can I start a Phone Contract in another state, but use my home area code?
I have been waiting for the iphone 3g to come out. On the day it comes out, I am flying from Chicago to California at 6 A.M. I was wondering if I could buy the phone in California but use my 773 area code to order service.
Basically can I start a contract in another state but use my home area code?

it might depend on the carrier. i know with att, you can go to any corporate store and activate a phone with any area code in the country in any market. however you cannot have two area codes from two different markets unless you are on a buisness account.
