Can anyone help me with my music career?

Question by .: Can anyone help me with my music career?
I love to sing and write songs. I have written about 40 songs in total and I want to make this my career. I know I am supposed to get my music licensed (so no one can steal my songs) and get some sort of record deal, but how do i go about doing that, Does anyone have any good advice they can give me on how to get started? Your answers are greatly appreciated! 🙂 Thank you.

i have a band, what we did was we started a band on myspace, just upload your songs, if your any good word will go around and someone will find it!
