I have interest in music.. music is my life.. Actually i wanna start a music label company, however, people told me that i have to start in artist management first. Now can anybody tell me how to start that?
I mean step by step what should i do and prepare to start the business. What does it need?
And if i wanna start a music label company, what should i do?

Management is easier to fake as it requires less paperwork. Most managers take a fixed percentage of an artist’s income. Both businesses require some kind of corporate structure to be set up (if you are serious) and both require you to hire a lawyer to have contracts together for your agreements with artists. I would start there – hire an entertainment lawyer to set up your corporate structure and give you some boilerplate legal documents for signing artists. Oh – and you will also need cash for a label because you want to be able to give an artist something in exchange for parting with their rights even if it is just marketing and promotion dollars without a cash advance.

Also be advised – selling recorded music is a very difficult business to make money in now because of piracy.
