Question by jsco637: Can a contracted employee earn unemployment once the contract is up?
I live and work in Harris county, Texas. I will being working as a contract worker for a city government for about 3 months. I will be receiving a 1099 at the end of the year from the city, because I will not be an employee. Does anyone know if I will be able to collect unemployment once the contract is over?

no, you have to be full time employee of the company you are essentially self employed and are not eligible
