Can a curb address painting business bid for city contracts and homeowners association contracts?

Question by Sarah329: Can a curb address painting business bid for city contracts and homeowners association contracts?
A small curb address painting business would like to get a city contract to paint the curbs for the city. That same business would also like to get contracts for homeowners associations. Are these plausible ideas? Can a business painting curbs really bring in a good income? I have talked to one city and one homeowners association and they both claimed that they would not need such services either because the city was not affiliated with curb painting (even though curbs are city property) or that addresses were not mandatory (in a homeowners association). I know every city is different, but does anyone else have information on this? My boyfriend has such a business and I would like him to stop and consider other avenues for a business. I do not want him to spend valuable time that he could spend in a more profitable way. He won’t listen to me, even though I’m the one with the MBA and he never went to college. Him being 6 years older is his claim to wisdom. Any information out there?

I do not feel that this is a plausible idea. I don’t see how curb painting could be lucrative. I know that in many areas it is not mandatory that the curb numbers be displayed on the curb. Also, even if a contact with a city or homeowners association was obtained, this would only mean 1 wave of ‘curb-painting’- once a curb is painted it really doesn’t ever need to be redone.

I don’t see how this could make very much money at all. I hope your boyfriend rethinks this idea. It sounds like a waste of time and effort to me. He should be the one contacting cities and homeowners associations to find out whether this is a needed service.
