I want to get into the music industry, but how?

Question by notmeblahblahblah: I want to get into the music industry, but how?
I have no expierance, no equitment, no idea on how to start. People tell me I have an amazing voice that could take me to the top and I’ve always wanted to be a singer. But how do I start? Can I ever just get in contact with a recording studio, set up a meeting, and hope to get signed or does it work that way. I live near Dallas, Texas. Like the Keller, Dallas, Southlake, Fortworth area. Does any one have any advice on how to get started. I’m quiet young and I don’t have money to do much or get anything started really and the closest thing I have to equiptment is a Mac that can record your voice. I can’t play any instruments either. Please don’t crush my dream, just help. How can I get started?
I’m 14. I’ve written my own songs since I was around 7. I’m very passionate and can deal with heart break. I’m a strong girl.

You already know what you want to do, which is good! But getting signed by a record label is the hardest part! You should get some voice training (even though I’m sure your good) but so you have some experience. Sing in a choir, or in a church or something to help you get started. Record labels and producers don’t care about you (not to be mean) but this is what they think. They are bigger than you! They have way more power than you do and they can throw you in the trash just like that! You have to be ready for anything. You have to know how your going to work through their ifs ands, and buts. The best thing to do right now is get some experience if your just starting. You know your a real musician if you write your own music. Try that! Also, try and take up an instrument. You don’t have to, but that’s the best thing to do. You have to know something to be able to do something. Talk to your parents about this. You have to be absolutey serious about this! This is no joke. If you are serious about this your parents will be putting a lot of money and time into helping you. Maybe you can join a band that needs a singer. Bands have better chances than solo singers, I’ll tell you that right now. Or get voice lessons, recommendations from your teachers, record your voice and try and send it in to record labels. There are truly no guarantees in the music industry. You could get a lot of heart breaks. But try your best and get some experience!
