itunes.apple.com The ‘Misunderstood (Soul Mix)’ is menacingly slow and simple with stark, grinding grooves: guitars collide with synthesizer, overdriven bass, and strange sounds of untraceable origin that create a soulful mantra. Caden Manson directed his first music video, creating a kaleidoscope world of stark contrasts. Farrad’s styling either camouflages him in the techno-rock reality or powerfully reacts to the swirling background. Theo Kogan developed expressively painted looks. Using products from her Armour Beauty line, she developed a series of hypnotic transformations that show off Farrad’s diversity. Brian McAllister edits the arresting images in the ‘Soul Mix, contradicting the piercing visuals with blurred, muted and saturated overlays — inventing a soulfully ominous piece. Farrad is on the attack, championing all those misunderstood in this succession of slinky visuals.
