Citigroup Takes Control of EMI
NEW YORK (TheStreet) — EMI Group was seized by Citigroup on Tuesday, ending owner Guy Hands’ control of the troubled music record company. The U.S. bank will take over EMI, which owns the Beatles record label, in a debt-for-equity swap. The deal will cut the 110-year-old company’s debt by 65% to 1.2 billion pounds ($ 1.94 billion).
