Q&A: How should I go about trying to become a songwriter in the music industry?

Question by Raymond: How should I go about trying to become a songwriter in the music industry?
How do songwriters enter the music industry? I have minimal experience as far as producing goes but I have enough to help direct an experienced producer. At this current time I am fairly confident with writing Electro-pop songs and Alt Rock songs but I feel I can work in almost any mainstream genre. I can use Sibelius and I can notate my music but I don’t really play an instrument well enough to do anything with it. I’m just curious as to how someone like me would about it.

find musicians to play your music and talk to the local radio stations they’ll be able to point you in the right direction.
