I was thinking about getting an SFF (small form factor) P.C.), which is too narrow for a standard PCI card. Also, in home music production, do I need to worry about upgrading the video card? Do SFF P.C.’s usually use PCI express cards?

Turtle Beach makes good external sound cards. Are you going to be running good speakers too, or are you going to be feeding fantastic audio to a pair of $ 10 computer speakers? 🙂

As far as video, do you want very high resolution, very fast video? If so, get the best card available at the time you upgrade your video. If what you have looks good to you, don’t waste your money.
